Dr. White has instituted successful programs at Mulholland Middle school during his tenure. One is the only middle school Junior Cadet Police Academy with a focus on law enforcement careers at the middle school level in the United States. He is a member of the Governing Board of the National Partners for Careers in Law, Public Safety and Security (NPCLPSS), and has presented at their national conferences for the last three years. Since 2002, he has worked with our present Governor to create an effective after school program at Mulholland Middle School based on a model created by the Governor. Dr. White was appointed to the Governor's Council on Before and After-school Programs in 2005, which was created by the California State Legislature to make recommendations on the implementation of Proposition 49, a 425 million proposition passed by the citizens of California in 2003. The members are selected by the Governor, State Senators and State Assemblymembers and Senators.
John White, a Los Angeles native, is the eldest of seven children. He graduated from Delano High School in the San Joaquin Valley where he balanced strong academic performance with his passion for the sport and discipline of football. After graduating from high school, Dr. White attended UCLA and played for the Bruins. His first education milestone was that of a classroom teacher, where for many years, he not only challenged his students to excel, but also inspired them to dream and pursue their goals. Possessing a strong commitment to excellence, John White continued his education, earning a Masterís Degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Doctorate from NOVA Southeastern University. In 1998 Dr. White was selected Principal of Mulholland Middle School where today, he is an active, "hands-on" administrator. Dr. White and his teaches have raised Mulhollandís API over 200 points since 2000. He looks forward to further academic improvement in 2006-2007.
